Give Animals a Second Chance on Giving Tuesday!
Sweet Sammie’s story began at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid-Maine, when she was unable to put any weight on her back leg. The caring staff there soon found out that she not only had a fractured leg, she had severe dental disease and a large mass in her belly in need of removal. Unfortunately, Sammie’s mother was ill herself and she was not in a position to provide the special care Sammie would need to heal. So, after a cast was put on her rear leg, she came to the shelter, where she received the remaining medical care she desperately needed.
While Sammie stayed in a cast for 6 weeks, followed by the additional surgical care, she remained with one of our amazing volunteers in foster care. And it took mere moments for her to win over the hearts of her foster parents! This little senior gal is, as Mom Irene says: “a sweet little dog who loves her belly rubs.” She also loves her meals, wasting no time in racing her doggie siblings to the food bowl!
Stories, and second chances like Sammie’s, are made possible thanks to the donations of our supporters and friends like you. Keep an eye on our website as we celebrate #Giving Tuesday with more stories like hers.
