Meet Socks, a very independent and feisty 9-year-old boy. He was brought in to us after his owner passed away. Socks has lived with only one person his whole life and has trouble getting acquainted with new people, so a quiet home with no children is needed. Socks would also like to be the only pet. He is looking for a home with someone who doesn't mind having an indoor cat who can be temperamental. We think that Socks will become somewhat social with his new owner, but it could take him at least a few months to start adjusting. He does need a home with plenty of room for him to adjust and few visitors or changes, which definitely stress him out.
After a few weeks here at the shelter, Socks really started to come out of his shell. He has bonded with many staff members but especially loves our executive director, whose office he gets to stay in. If you walk by her office you will either find Socks sitting on her deck like a gargoyle or curled up on her lap begging for her attention. He loves attention so much that he can get a bit cranky when you try to leave. While he does love to be pet he can get a bit overstimulated after a while. He is a very curious cat and tries to leave the office and explore every time the door opens. He loves wet food and will follow you around until you place his bowl in front of him.
