Brothers Fencing & GAHS Honor Local Veteran
Thanksgiving is the perfect day to announce the recipient of the free fencing and installation generously provided by Brothers Fencing: veteran Charles Breton of Mechanic Falls and his sweet beagle, Molly!
Charles was nominated by his daughter, Julie, who shared his remarkable story of service and sacrifice. Charles is a decorated veteran who proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War and now battles Parkinson’s Disease. Julie beautifully summed up her father’s character: “My dad is not the type of person to ask for help but he is always the first one to offer it. He continues to live his life with great integrity and kindness on a daily basis.”
With her own story to share, Molly has proven to be the right companion for Charles. She is one of the beagles transferred from the 2022 Envigo seizure and came back into the care of the GAHS in August. Since her adoption in September, Molly has settled in well and has quickly become a beloved member of the Breton family.
Julie’s nomination highlighted the difference this fence will make: “Molly has been a wonderful addition to the family as she has become a loyal companion and sense of support for my dad. A fenced in yard would allow Molly the freedom to exercise and for my dad to play with her in a safe area.”
This gift is a well-deserved thank you for Charles’ service and commitment to our country, and we are honored that Brothers Fencing chose the GAHS to be a part of this collaboration! We thank them for making such a meaningful difference in the daily lives of this wonderful veteran and his loyal companion.
