Cats Pawsitive 360 to help Oriole and others find their match!
Earlier this year, the GAHS was accepted into the Cat Pawsitive 360 program by The Jackson Galaxy Project and several of our staff members were able to attend a 2-day training in Springfield, MA with none other than Jackson Galaxy himself! This incredible initiative is designed to keep adoptable cats, like our long-term resident Oriole, mentally and physically engaged while they’re here with us.
With the help of positive reinforcement techniques, such as clicker training, our team teaches the cats everything from high fives to head bumps, and even how to “sit” and “come when called.” These skills will not only help our cats maintain their mojo but also allow them to connect with potential adopters more quickly and meaningfully. Oriole, who has been with us for over a year, has made amazing progress, and we’re confident that Cat Pawsitive will help him, and other cats like him, shine even brighter! Oriole thrives on enrichment; he’s happiest when he has plenty to keep him busy. However, he can become overstimulated at times, so he will do best with a family who understands the importance of giving him space when he needs it. A cat tree or perches would be perfect for him to enjoy some alone time.
While Oriole likes to take his time to decompress, he can be very sweet on his terms and has a quirky, funny personality once he’s settled in. Because of his needs, a home with older children would be ideal. Oriole would also prefer to be the only pet so he can reign as the king of his new castle.
