Humphrey appreciates your support!
When Humphrey first arrived at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society last winter, he was in rough shape. His body was exhausted from a severe case of Demodex mange, leaving his skin raw and painful. Our staff immediately got to work treating him, and with time in foster care and consistent medical treatment, Humphrey began to feel better. As he healed, his goofy, lovable personality emerged – revealing the fun-loving boy he was always meant to be. Once he was healthy and ready for a fresh start, Humphrey was quickly adopted.
Sadly, that wasn’t the end of his journey with GAHS. Last week, Humphrey arrived at the emergency clinic in need of immediate surgery to repair a bowel obstruction. Faced with an incredibly difficult decision, his owners chose to surrender him back into our care so he could receive the help he needed. Humphrey underwent surgery right away and is now recovering with us. With each passing day, he’s showing more signs of improvement – and flashes of the sweet, goofy personality we know and love are shining through once again.
Medical cases like Humphrey’s are not uncommon. At GAHS, pets like him are given a second chance thanks to generous donations to our Sammy Fund, which is dedicated to covering the cost of specialized and often urgent medical care.
