Found Pets

Thank you for helping out lost pets in your community!  The GAHS takes in stray animals from the following municipalities:  Auburn, Canton, Greene, Hebron (cats only), Leeds, Lewiston, Livermore, Minot, New Gloucester, Turner, Rumford, and Wales.  

It is a good idea to alert your town animal control officer or law enforcement about the stray pet you found, because they may already be in contact with the owner who is searching for their pet.

Bringing a found stray to GAHS– Due to extremely high volume of pets in need, we ask that you fill out the form below for found stray animals and we’ll be in touch to schedule an intake. Please note that a photo ID is required to bring in a stray pet to our facility. For emergencies, ACOs are able to bring stray pets directly in to our facility.

    Stray Cats and Kittens– Many owned cats are let outdoors to roam freely. This can make it difficult to determine if a cat is lost, a stray, or simply visiting before he heads home.
